Hearn Academy National School Lunch & Breakfast Program Overview
Hearn Academy proudly participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), a federally assisted meal program that provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to students each school day. Our goal is to ensure all students have access to healthy meals that support their growth, learning, and overall well-being, regardless of family income.
As part of the NSLP, Hearn Academy follows strict nutrition standards set by the USDA and the Arizona Department of Education. Families are encouraged to complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application annually to determine eligibility for meal assistance. In addition to offering healthy lunches, we also participate in the School Breakfast Program (SBP), making nutritious meals available at the start of the day.
By participating in the NSLP, Hearn Academy supports academic success by reducing food insecurity and promoting lifelong healthy eating habits.

Summer Meals
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Summer is coming soon and you may be thinking about what your child will do for meals while school is out. The good news is that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) partners with organizations in your local community to serve free meals through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). It’s food that’s in, while school is out. There are no income requirements, and any child age 18 and younger may come to eat.
Free meals, that meet Federal nutrition guidelines, are provided to all children at approved SFSP sites in areas with significant concentrations of low-income children by schools, private nonprofits and local or county government organizations.
Unfortunately, we are not operating the SFSP this summer; however, SFSP feeding sites are located throughout the state of Arizona. They offer a combination of breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and suppers. In some rural areas, these meals may be delivered or picked up. To find a participating site near you, please visit https://www.azhealthzone.org/freesummermeals/ or text “Food” or “Comida” to 304-304. Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program (Summer-EBT/SUN Bucks) provides grocery-buying benefits to low-income families with school-aged children who lose access to free or reduced-price school meals when schools are closed for the summer. To see if your child is eligible for $120 and information on how to apply, please visit https://www.azed.gov/SUNBucks or call the SUN Bucks hotline at 833-648-4406.
Hope you have a healthy and fun summer – thank you!
Sincerely,
Kelly Killmer
